You will first go here:
https://www.familysearch.org/en/getinvolved/indexing
Click on the blue "Find A Project" button.
This box will appear. What your available batches will be might vary on location and access. Right now, I have three available English. There are checkout limits for every project. As you can see, I have the max number of batches for Ohio and one for the Directories. Choose how many you want and click Index. Your max checkout is 10 batches across all projects. To start indexing, go to Step 2: Entries in the upper left corner.
Even though there are not a lot of projects now, I'd start with the Directories project. It's the most straightforward of all projects.
Read, read and reread the entire Project Instructions and the popup box (if applicable) before you index your first entry. The PI can be found at the bottom of every entry or by the last icon on your toolbar. The PI will answer 98% of questions you may have. You can always go back to the PI if you have questions. If you have any questions, feel free to ask.

@Florence Faye McIntosh Jarvis Since you are coming back to indexing, you could also try out the Get Involved activities. These are computer indexed and need human eyes to verify. They are fairly straight-forward and great for getting started again.
