Can no longer remove Memory from New Homepage
Once upon a time, any Memories posted on the Homepage could be removed by selecting the Memory, clicking on 3 dots in lower right, and clicking to remove. This procedure apparently does not exist on New Homepage. There are NO 3 dots at Lower Right of Memory allowing this. If I Exit Preview and return to old Homepage, it does not appear. It appears ONLY on New Homepage. So, if I return the New Preview of Homepage, there it is again, stuck on page!
First: How do these Memories get on my Homepage? Is there a way to Never have these posted on Homepage (settings)?
Second: Did the procedure change for New Homepage? If so, How do I remove them? Continuous postings will eventually render my Homepage useless>=.

In Windows 10, new Home Page, the 3 dots are at the top right of the memory, and the options are to hide, remove, or report abuse. Verified in Chrome and Firefox.
The memories are there because someone has attached the memory. In the case of one I'm looking at right now, my cousin added the memory a couple of months ago when we were working on this family together.0 -
On the version of the new homepage I see, no, there are no three dots but the widget is at the bottom of the page, is pretty small, and will never hold more than two and a half images. Continuous posting will never take any more room than they do right now so I don't see how it will have any affect on the usefulness of the homepage:

My homepage matches Gordon's: two and a half "recent" photographs.
(For some rather unusual value of "recent": the first one was posted by my godmother in 2021, the rest by my cousin's kid in 2018.)
The only problem I can see with this is, what if I happen to find one of the two and a half images to be objectionable? (Say I suddenly develop an aversion to polkadot ties.) What can I do then, besides never scrolling down on the homepage? (Not hard; there's no reason to, but let's pretend otherwise.)

The options to hide a memory are not on the memories widget on the home page itself, but on the memories feed that you get to by clicking VIEW ALL on the memories widget. From the memories feed you will see those options on each memory listed there.

Humm.. so to hide them on the homepage you have to go to the full feed page (which no one will ever think of), hide the memory there, then return to the home page.
Just tried it. Didn't work.
Here is the full feed page. There were two items between these two that are now hidden:
Here is the home page after refreshing multiple times:
The two hidden ones are still here. (The two partial images on either end are the two seen in the first image.)

Thanks all for replies. Knowing that the now "Widget" area limits what you see is comforting. I was able to go to View All. Still no 3 dots in lower right, but just left clicking on a Memory I was presented wit a DETACH option. Didn't know whether this was to Detach memory entirely from Memories or just my Homepage. So, I did the Detach anyway (Sorry if it was removed from all memories) and it did remove from Homepage when I returned. It seems a new HELP article is needed to present the correct way to perform this. I should haves stated I was on Windows 11, but don't think that is relevant unless NEW Homepage is not available to Windows 10. Processing should be identical (one would hope). Thanks again for help.

I'm really concerned that by clicking that detach you actually untagged that photo from the person's profile page. Unless you can prove that that is not what happened, on behalf of people who correctly and appropriately tagged the items, please don't do that again.
Best thing to do now is just wait until they add the Hide option to the thumbnails on the home page, which I hope they do plan on doing. Then hide any or all of them.

Gordon…thanks but I couldn't tell you which grave picture got posted there any more. here is no log to track the pos/detach. I checked all my individuals (over 15) with that name and found none with that grave picture in Memories. FS, according to their policies and controls, does NOT allow physical detachment/removal of a Memory unless you specifically posted it. Memories. Before the New Homepage, the word used was HIDE the memory from your Homepage. I have no clue whether what I did (DETACH) from the Homepage (Memory image→All Views) deleted another person's post to HIS/HER Memory onto a FS Individual. Rules and controls indicate I could NOT do such. Sorry if it did, but then its a FS issue that must be fixed. Quite possibly the word DETACH was a mistake and it really means HIDE. Next time another memory shows up I'll test your suggestion, or you or another individual cold test it now on their Homepage. If I were programming this function, I would have a Setting for FS to set whether I want Memory postings on my Homepage Yes/No), plus I'd provide a HIDE on the Homepage itself (not requiring to go to All views) like the old 3 dots in lower right of image (Old Homepage). How does it get to MY Homepage is uncertain. Why does it get posted to mine and not yours? Does FS keep some connection list? I would think maybe if a user indicates FOLLOW for an individual he goes to a list that triggers posting it on all users specifying FOLLOW an individual? Give me the design specs and I could design a workable solution. Again, concluding, I can only test this upon the next posting, which by the way, needs to come from anther user, meaning I can not post a memory for those NEVER get posted on MY Homepage.
Action: Can somebody else test the DETACH for a Memory on their Homepage? Do so by noting the FS individual ID, Go to it and display the Memory their, then go to your homepage and proceed to the ALL view/View all by clicking on the image. Then click the image there and select DETACH. We thank you.

Test Done. I was on the wrong side of the family and it was for a Peter Wasser. His Memory remains on the FS ID for him after the DETACH from Homepage. Thus, it appears that DETACH off Homepage for an image is the same as HIDE.

Can't help thinking FS could have chosen a better word than 'Detach' here.
While we have no visible change log for Memories themselves, their tagging and untagging against profiles does get shown in the profiles' change logs.

With all this discussion of a Detach option, I am unable to find that word used anywhere on the home page. Are we really talking about the home page? If so, could someone post a screenshot of this Detach option in context?

I can't track this down at all, sorry, @Tpanc13RichL can you do us some screenshots showing the flow from initially loading the home page through to seeing the 'detach' option? Thanks.

Mandy,
I can't show you the steps without having a memory on the Homepage to work with. Plus, I don't know how a Memory gets posted there other than they are from other users. So, if you would please do the following I can get your answers and do additional testing:
- On Peter Wasser, LRF1-DN4, go to Memories and Load a fictious picture there called XXXX.Jpg.
This the ID where my Homepage image was done. I don't follow this person, but I was a contributor . This answers one question I had, i.e., does it get there because I did a FOLLOW. Answer=NO. So, it must get there because I was a contributor.
2. If it also gets posted to my Homepage (timeframe unknown), I can lead you through the steps.
3. When we are finished with our Q&A, you can delete it from Memories (only you can since you created it). But, don't do this until we complete 2 above and any further testing.

I've added a test image to his Memories (picture of a kookaburra).

Alan,
The DETACH I did was starting off the NEW HOMEPAGE. Go to an image and you will not find the 3 dots in lower right of an image like they were on OLD Homepage. Thus you have to get to View All (don't remember exact wording - my prev comment gives steps to Mandy to get an image to an ID that pops up to my Homepage). Anyway, if you can find the View of all memories for the Homepage by jumping off the Homepage Image by clicking the image, another screen appears showing the image again. On THAT 2nd image, I clicked (left? Right?) and a menu popped up to allow DETACH. I'll work with Mandy to spell out the procedure once one is posted on my Homepage again. Feel free to see post to Mandy and perform step also to get one to me. Thanks.

Mandy,
Got the pic posted. However, I can NOT get to 2nd screen by VIEL ALL at the bottom this time! Maybe it takes a while. So, on my Homepage is the Kookaburra. And nothing can be done to it there. Before, I went to a 2nd screen via VIEW ALL. It was there where I got to a DETACH. Not working the same unless delayed. I'll check in a while.

Well, that test was interesting. Still didn't get the 2nd screen via VIEW ALL but I went to the image (which is now gone on Homepage and FS ID LRF1-DN4) and clicked the picture image and received a TAGGING option where I got to do the DETACH. Again, the specifics I need to do slower and mark down every step. Anyway after the DETACH, I lost the Homepage image AND the one on FS ID unless you deleted it from there.
So, we need to do it again, please.

I have put it back on the profile. It had not disappeared from my Memories gallery.

AH, it doesn't appear/post on that ID though. But, does appear in your MEMORIES folder.
That means you can't upload id again since it's already in YOUR Memories. And probably you can't get it to the ID LRF1-DN4 again. Unless you go to the ID and under MEMORY load from your gallery instead of trying to load from PC again. This is so messed up.

I did get the first load to disappear from my Homepage, but didn't check the fs ID LRF1-DN4 to see it there. I need to test more carefully.

I'm doing it from the app and I think I am getting timing problems so I will leave it alone for now and delete anything that's left tomorrow.
The change log shows the attaches (taggings) and detaches btw.

OK. I have Kookla on Homepage again.
Also in FS ID LRF1-DN4 .
Did VIEW ALL on Homepage and it did noting useful. Returned to Homepage
Left-clicked picture on Homepage.Up comes Picture in separate screen along with information on right side of screen with FS ID and a Gear Icon.
Pressed the GEAR and up came popup on left side with an option to click on the paper clip icon for the ID.
Did so and up comes screen to DETACH.
Did DETACH specifying TESTING as Reason.
Went back to Homepage and picture image is now GONE.
Checked ID LRF1-DN4 and it disappeared there to!
This is NOT what we want!
Conclusion: DO NOT DETACH this way to clear Homepage, because it also DETACHS from FS ID that the originator posted and also violates the controls FS has that state this cannot be done except by the originator! In other words, you can no longer HIDE images on New Homepage and Gordon was right to NOT do this.
If the space used is now limited as Gordon indicates, I am no longer concerned and they will disappear by themselves some time. If an image is offensive, then I would think you have to call FS for a HIDE solution, or very offensive, DETACH it.
Thank you everybody, especially Mandy, for helping to notify others that the HIDE option to rid the Homepage of images no longer exists at this time. Should the image be offensive, notify FamilySearch or Originator of the Memory to remove. I can't verify that if the Originator removes the Memory from the FS ID if it will then remove it from your Homepage. The option to HIDE SHOULD be reimplemented!

It makes perfect sense that this is what Detach will do. Glad you've resolved the issue. I am sure you're on the case but please do make sure anything you've accidentally detached (see My Contributions) gets re-tagged! I will delete my upload now.

Mandy…is My Contibutions something from/in FamilySearch? Now that I know DETACH off Homepage as done deletes from the Person ID to, I certainly won't do that. But I did do so before the testing and am sure at least one image disappeared. But it was to a different Person than this problem and I have no idea who that was anymore.
So is the an overall log of changes I made that I can simply RESTORE without knowing the Person ID involved and originator of the Memory posted there?
For the ID we worked on I can see all changes made. I saw that you were able to delete/detach/remove the test photo you put out there (I assume you did this). I put one out on that ID and can see I added it (4 children called WASSER TEST) and can't figure out how to delete it! Other than maybe going into my GALLERY and deleting it from there which would probably delete it from all other Person IDs I attached it to. So, How did you remove yours?

My Contributions lists the profiles, then you can use the relevant change log(s) to action the restores.
I just deleted the kookaburra from my Gallery - I think you'd detached it from the profile by then, but deleting it from the Gallery would have done that automatically (the app warns you about this when you delete a Memory from the Gallery).

@MandyShaw1 @Tpanc13RichL @Gordon Collett
I am meeting with the Home Page engineers this week and will ask about this issue and how it is supposed to work.
