I just opened a new directory batch to index..
It seems to be done. Am I just to check it and make sure it is done correctly?
It seems to me some of the names are missing and some of the fields are not correctly filled out. Unless I am doing it totally wrong!
But I've not come across a batch that has already been filled out.

I would go entry by entry to correct/add them. If you need to add a name, do the following:
Click this icon on the toolbar. When this box, you'll have three choices, along with the number to entries you want to add.
You can add 1-99 entries each time.
In the three choices, #1 will bump the first entry, and other subsequent entries, down one place.
Choice #2 will add the entry(ies) after the current entry. If you are on Entry 65, but find the original indexer skipped Entry 66, you'll choose this to slide a new entry between 65 and 67.
Choice #3 is generally used if you have more entries to add after Entry 300 or Entry 15, etc. There were previous Directory projects that saw indexers hit over 1,000 entries, but the ones that I saw that had that many were for Chicago.
If you start fixing them, and you find that there are waaaay too many mistakes that you're fixing (like 1 out of every 3, or whatever your tolerance is), you can also return it for Reindexing. Under Batch, select Return Batch and it'll throw the batch back on to the indexing pile.0 -
I believe this happens if you get a batch that someone else started but didn't submit, either because it expired, or because the other indexer returned it. As erutherford explained, you can add lines wherever you need them, if you decide to keep the previous indexer's work. (You do have the option of blanking everything and starting over, as if it were a "fresh" indexing batch like you normally get, but I'd only take that route if the previous entries were gibberish or from a different image or something.)
