It might be because you don't have access to the available batches. Availability depends on location. I had a gentleman ask why he couldn't open a batch that was accessible at a FS center, but not at a different location (most likely his home). Some projects are only available at a FS Center, or Italy or Spain, or even states. I remember a few years back waiting to help with a Wisconsin project, but couldn't because it was only for Wisconsin residents.

You could also try resetting your difficulty level and language. I did that last week, just to see what else was out there, and I had Italian, Spanish and French projects that were in their own language. I know about 15 words between Spanish and French.

There aren't any batches to check out (this goes back to your access). In my little sliver of Illinois, the only English project available right now is Part N of City Directories.

You've already checked out the max number of batches for a project. The Directories have a max checkout of 4 batches.

There is also Billion Graves, National Archives' Citizen Archivist, From The Page and Freedom on the Move that always needs volunteers.

    Yes.

    https://www.archives.gov/citizen-archivist/missions

    https://www.fromthepage.com/landing

    https://crowdsourcing.freedomonthemove.org/

Citizen Archivist has Revolutionary War, Japanese Internment and Warren Commission public correspondence, among others. From the Page has Tennessee Birth, Marriage and Death Records, Newspapers and my favorite, World War II records from Virginia. Freedom on the Move is runaway slave ads.

I would seem to me that familysearch are going to lose a lot of transcribers if they soon don't get something on in English. Unfortunately it is the only language I know.

Not getting a whole lot of answers out of familysearch about all this.
