Why the change
Half of my stake indexers called and said they had lost a big number of their indexing. We should have had some time to prepare for this or at least have some question and answer time.

Good morning. FamilySearch began talking about switching indexing to from human power to A.I. in April 2021. I am not sure how they informed the vast number of indexing volunteers about this switch. FamilySearch is taking advantage of the ever increasing technological advances in A.I. and moving the indexing list along at now amazing speeds. FamilySearch still needs your help in making sure the A.I. is getting the names correct and you can contribute by going to Get Involved on the FamilySearch main page.
Here you can volunteer to check full names, partial names and locations to make sure they are accurate.
It is helping to move the indexing of names at an incredible pace and opening up many, many opportunities for research that have never been available before. In 2024 alone, AI indexed 1.5 billion images containing nearly 10 billion names.

@sc woz I think people's concerns in relation to AI indexing tend to be about communication and/or quality, not quantity.
