Roger Neil Logan
My grandfather, Roger Neil Logan [b.17 Jun 1945 Sheridan, Wyoming— d.1 Aug 1997 Richmond, Virginia] died when I was only 6. He is the reason I began my research a couple of years ago. I have been looking for information on his time in the military and any photos someone may have. Any time I ask about this over the years in various places I am always sent information from Family Search which I have seen (and added much of it) or I am sent the little information from Fold3 which only seems to have the typical information like his social. I am looking for the information I do not already have. What I know is he was in the military (ARMY). I have been told he was a helicopter mechanic during Vietnam. Any help would be appreciated even if you are only able to point me in a direction I would greatly appreciate it.
Another question comes from my great uncle (Roger's brother). [Before anyone asks, I only came into contact with him this past summer and they did not spend much time together beyond their childhood years due to age and location so he has given me the information he has] He has mentioned to me that their uncle Earl Stanley Newbrough was also in the military and ended up in an asylum after and that is where he would die later. He is curious to know about Earl's time in the military because he was once told, but could never prove, that Earl was one of the many who the government experimented with LSD on. And that was part of how he ended up in an asylum later. As with my grandfather, I have seen the information on here and Fold3. Any help or information with either of these questions would be appreciated.

Have you heard of the newly-launched website, from Reclaim the Records, for requesting the BIRLS files for military veterans? It's very new; I was a Beta tester in Autumn 2024. A few weeks ago, I received a DVD with my father's Navy record; the file is 436 pages long.https://www.birls.org/
Beneficiary Identification Records Locator Subsystem (BIRLS) Contains birth and death dates for more than 14 million veterans and VA beneficiaries who died between the years of 1850 and 2010.
Best of luck!2 -
