NYC Probate Letters of Administration

Hi everyone! I have browsed through the digitized New York Probate records and found 2 relatives who died intestate (one in 1892 and one in 1908) listed in the 'New York City. Probate Indexes 1743–1910' records set. Family members filed Letters of Administration (shown in the attached record John E. Fogarty and John P. Fogarty), but I am unable to find any additional records, as the additional digitized records do not cover those years. Can anyone suggest a next step? Thank you in advance!

    Hi Marlene -

Honestly, there may not be much to find by going down that route. When someone dies intestate, there's obviously no will to probate, so searching newspapers might be best in terms of finding property transfers.

What are you trying to uncover? Are you missing any of the key records that are available?

I can see the family in the 1880 Census, John P. Fogarty's death, Lillian Tapen's death certificate, etc…

Perhaps we can help you find other missing records.
