If the spouse's name is in parentheses and has "wid" before it, do I still index the surname?

In the Field Help it says "Do not index the names of deceased individuals." but I'm not sure if you still index the surname, or leave both the name and surname blank.

If the name has wid in front of it; ie Ann Smith, wid John, the spouse's information will be left blank.

What I need to know is whether Ann is a widow or if John is a widower

@StewartEarlene1 Are you indexing? If so, what's the batch code in brackets to the right of the project title, looks like this [MQRH-VQN]

You don't index the deceased spouse, regardless of which one is deceased. In the 2643617 directories I've done, I've only seen a widow, like my example of Ann.
