Pennsylvania prior to 1810

1790 was the first census for the USA. Some colonies had earlier censuses, but those are rare.
Depending on the location, you may find some newspapers from before 1810. There may be church records of baptisms, marriages, and sometimes deaths. The FS Wiki for Pennsylvania research may be useful: https://www.familysearch.org/en/wiki/Pennsylvania,_United_States_Genealogy

@Amy51449 If you ask some specific questions (i.e. location and details about what you already know), you will likely get some great help here in the Community. Otherwise, I would suggest starting here at the FamilySearch Pennsylvania Wiki page.
It would also be a good idea to join the Atlantic States Research Group for more resources. Good luck in your quest!

Thank you. The wiki is vast and with most of those sources not being searchable, I don't know how ot start. I'm hoping to find out the family history of Jesse Mode Sr. born 1748. One source says in 1772 he married Sarah in Delaware British Colonial America. He was in a directory as a laborer in Philadelphia in 1785. Thank you for your tips.

@A3426 There are actually many record collections for early Pennsylvania, especially tax lists, land deeds, and probate records. Try the new Full Text Search to see if any of these records come up. Be sure to read the search tips if you are not familiar with this tool. Include his father and siblings and also both Delaware and Pennsylvania in your searches. Let us know if you find anything and we can suggest what next to try.
