I keep getting “Something Went Wrong” when I search records

I first noticed this last week. It happens when I search records or when I click on a link to a record in sources. Thought maybe it was they were working on the site but it’s still happening this week.

Try resetting the FamilySearch cookies on your device.

@vickilynsaxey1 I will need more details to be able to report your problem. Were you in Historical Records Search, Family Tree, or someplace else? What records were you trying to access? What happens when you refresh?

I try searching while on a person page, it also happens when I try to bring up a link in a source or when I search a link in the wiki. I’ve tried resetting cookies, clearing history, and when I search on ancestry, the document comes right up. If I try to get to the historical records it comes up with the error-something went wrong.

Can you give an example PID and a specific source?

Does this happen for all records or just some of them?

Does it happen in all browsers/if you log in on another computer/if someone else logs in? Do you have any browser extensions installed?

I'm having the same problem. From the main page, when I select "Records," the Something Went Wrong screen comes up. I've tried rebooting, resetting my cookies, but no change.

So, I took my laptop to the Family Search Library last week (since I serve there) and asked Guest Services, since they are the ones that help our guests with technology problems, what they thought. They weren’t sure but one of the guys said FamilySearch was having some issues they are trying to fix. I decided to try Chrome instead of Safari (that I have used for years) and Chrome works! So, maybe give that a try.
