A few years ago I visited the Family History Library in Salt Lake City and met with a helper in the Swedish section of the library. He introduced me to a website that had death records dating into the 1500's. I believe it was a subscription based website but it could only be accessed using a windows based system, I thought I had written down the information for that site but can't find it now, it is not Arkivdigital. anyone have any idea what the name of that program might be?

You were likely introduced to the Swedish vital records website ArkivDigitalhttps://www.arkivdigital.net/ The format has been modified a few times, and it may not look the same now as it did when you used it before.

You can find good lists of other recommended sites for Swedish research in the FamilySearch Wiki https://www.familysearch.org/en/wiki/Sweden_Online_Genealogy_Records

Best of luck with the search.

A great free resource to explore Swedish birth, marriage and death records, plus a lot more, is the Swedish National Archive. Which was a paid subscription service until February 2018. You can access it at:

    https://riksarkivet.se/startpage.

There is a series of YouTube videos on using these records called “Swedish Family History for Beginners” with a very useful handout on how to use them at:

    Good luck!
