Twins identity merged - how to fix

Hello - I have been researching for DAR: Harold Bertrand Ferrin of Grafton Co. New Hampshire. It appears his identity was merged with that of his twin brother, Herman Earnest Ferrin. The wives and children are all mixed up up. How do I unmerge it?

Thanks!

You will not be able to use the "unmerge" option as that is only possible if no edits have been made after the merge.

You can "restore" a profile that has been merged incorrectly into another. It can take a lot of work and many steps, especially when there are spouses and children involved. You will need to be sure that all the sources and event details are connected to the appropriate profile when you are finished.

Looking at the changelog, it seems the merge was made many years ago. https://www.familysearch.org/tree/person/changelog/K8RC-9JY/merges

You may find it easier to create a new profile for the missing twin and then move the necessary sources, events, and family members from Herman to Harold.

    Hope this helps.

Thanks - I will try to do this when I have time.

@CathleenHargreaves2 The best course of action is to restore the record that was deleted in the merge. As explained before, there is a lot of cleanup that has to be done on both profiles after restoring.
