I'd like to EDIT memories that others have added
I often come across memories that need to be "fixed". If I added it (I've attached 14,399), there is no issue. However, if it is someone else, I can't.
My Aunt was an avid genealogist and just passed away. I have inherited 5 blue bins with all her family history on several family lines. She had added lots of memories - some of them need correction. How can I do that?

I agree, but the change log arrangements for memories would need improving considerably if this were to be supported, I think.

I’m guessing you already know that if you did not contribute the Memory, you can’t edit it.
However, there are several options you can consider:
- You can leave a Comment. If you open the individual Memory, at the top of the right side-bar, you’ll see a dialogue icon; click it to leave a comment that offers a correction.
- You can download the Memory that needs correcting (click the 3 dots in the upper right). It will download into your Gallery. From there you can Edit it however you choose, then tag it to whomever you choose.
- If the Memories aren’t tagged appropriately, you ARE able to add or detach tags.
Sounds like you’re trying to help in an amazing way! Best wishes!

Is this the right place to suggest that some memory edit functionality could be beneficial, crrtainly where originators have become inactive?

That is a familar and frequent request. Our Engineers and FamilySearch leaders are aware that many Memories might come with incorrect information.
However, the current decision is that only the contributor of the Memory can edit the Memory.
We know this isn't always ideal. But that is the current process.
See the options above as a work around. If the contributor is still alive, you can also try and contact them.
Thanks for the feedback!

The ability to edit other's memories is also discussed in our Known Issues for the Memory Viewer.
Here is the discussion: Ability to Edit a photo that someone else uploaded?
