Merge attempt leads to "Unknown Names"
I am attempting to merge Ballard Preston, G5LM-3QT. into William Ballard Preston, 96SB-G8F. When I do so the resulting merge page, https://www.familysearch.org/tree/person/merge/verify/96SB-G8F/G5LM-3QT,
lists both persons as [Unknown Name].
Would anyone be able to explain why this occurs and if there is anything that I can do about it?
Thanks,
Anne

It's doing the same thing for me, whether I start from the link or from either of the profiles.
It's something about those specific profiles: I tried some random other ones, and the first merge screen always came up without problems.
I think this may require contacting Support directly so that someone with access to the "back end" can take a look.

I get the same error. There have been so many glitches reported the past couple of weeks, I really wonder how many of them are due to hardware issues or internet issues. Pages are not loading correctly as you are seeing here. The source page loads but without any dates on the sources and when opened, the indexed information cannot be displayed. The relationship calculator can take hours to find a relationship. I've noticed in general that at times pages are slower to load than usual. Is it the snow storms in the North East or the fires in California? All that you can do is wait for the online world to get back to normal.
Oh, and a bit of empathy and kind wishes for the programmers who are probably screaming and tearing their hair out might be helpful.

You are the only one to touch G5LM-3QT based on the change log. Have you tried just deleting this profile instead of merging?

Julia, Gordon, and Amy,
Thank you for looking at this issue. Thank you for the suggestion to delete G5LM-3QT, which I was able to do. I always merge, rather than delete profiles, so I appreciate this suggestion.
The mystery remains but this specific issue is resolved now.
