person was detached from parents, why?
This person was detached from parents and all supporting documents were detached & the place of birth was changed. I can't tell why this was done. There was no reason statement left by the contributor as to why it was done.
Can someone help me figure this out please?
Niels Andreas Andersen MJKF-KWW
Is it because the records with parents show the location as one thing and the records with wife and children show somewhere different? Are these locations close enough to be for the same person? I have trouble understanding places in Denmark because it seems that the same place can have several different names or spellings. Or the name of a place will be changed.
I did a search for records for the person and the detached parents using the changed birth location. I didn't find anything.
Was the detachment of these parents wrong?

Have you tried asking the contributor who made the changes? The changes were made just 4 days ago. In the changelog, you can click on the username to send a private message and open a dialogue with the other contributor.
Best of luck.

You can see in the very start of the Change Log that the intended identity of Niels Andreas Andersen was the Niels born 22 MAY 1862 and christened 6 July 1862 Aggersborg,Hjorring,Denmark. That is who was imported from New Family Search. A couple of you have worked on his record and maintained that identity until Jan 1 when the other user you are referring to must have decided he was a completely different person and made all those changes. He started by merging two people with different last names who were born seven years apart.
This tends to happen when users new to Family Tree don't understand the universal aspect of Family Tree and think that everyone they run across is their relative. Finding a person of the same name of their relative, they take that person and turn it into their relative. Or often they consider what they are doing to be clearing out people that mysteriously appeared in "their tree" who they are not related to and so don't want in "their tree."
From the looks of things, I would just go ahead and reverse all the changes he made and then send him a polite message in which you discuss the one tree for all of humanity philosophy of Family Tree, that he will find many people he is not related to, and that he should not take well documented profiles and turn them into different people but rather create new profiles for his relatives if they are not in the tree already.
Do close the message by saying that if he did discover new information about this family to show that you had incorrect information and parents for the Niels Andreas currently with wife and family as shown, that you would be happy to discuss why he thinks things need to be changed.
Hope you can get this resolved smoothly.
