What is Suggest an Idea?
The Suggest an Idea option in the FamilySearch Community is the place to suggest a new function or addition to FamilySearch.
Suggest an Idea is not the place to report site errors or bugs, file a complaint, or ask questions. You can, however, post those concerns in the appropriate Ask a Question category in the Community.

Why Was Suggest an Idea Changed
We learned a great deal from the last change we made and determined that we needed to make deeper changes to have real improvement. We continue to consult with our engineers and incorporate your suggestions. We tackled the process from the front end that you see to the backend where we track what you submit and where the engineers are presented what was submitted. Our objectives are to:
- streamline the process so users can make suggestions for new functions and additions to our site
- ensure that users’ ideas are understood and considered for possible implementation.
- monitor for duplicate ideas and interest in an idea
- create a process for questions that aren’t really ideas.
- provide a simpler process for our engineering teams to review your ideas.
- foster a respectful and safe environment for all users.
- move from a template to a form that incorporates the required information for suggesting an idea. This will hopefully make it easier for you to know what we need. Ideas must have the information required in the form.
If your idea is incomplete or not fully understood, you will receive an email, if you provided it in the form or a private message in the Community. In this email, you will be asked to provide more information. You may be asked to resubmit the form if there is too much information missing.
If your submission is not an idea, you will receive an email, if you provided it in the form, or a private message in the Community with instructions on where to post your question or comment in the Community.
Ideas may occasionally be shared in the Community for voting when there is a need to gauge user interest.
