Tagging old memories - variable success

I've been working through my Gallery to edit titles and tag to the right people as my tidying up effort. The edit function works fine, but the tagging not so much.

When I click the Tag button lower right on the image, I'll get a popup to select the person in Tree, either by name or PID. Often when I have copied the PID from the profile page and put it in the search box, it won't pull up the profile. I get an "add new ####" option rather than the profile being found. But sometimes it works fine.

I have both PDFs and photos (likely jpg, can't recall) and wondered if that is the difference for some reason?

I've found that I can go to the person's profile page and then Add the Memory from my Gallery, but that doesn't add the tag to the image, so I'm not advised it has been added to the profile when going through my Gallery. And occasionally I got an error message that the Upload failed when the image is still sitting in the Memory of the person. It wasn't an upload as the image was already in my Gallery. I would have assumed it would just put in a link rather than a physical copy to the person's profile.

Am I doing something wrong or expecting something that isn't possible?

I’m sorry your experience with the tagging function is sometimes frustrating. Other users have had similar experiences. You aren’t doing anything wrong.

Yes, there are limitations with the Tagging function. This is a known issue. The PID (Person ID) that populates when you tag is not always expected/ideal.

Thanks, Amber. I'll try your method tomorrow when I have a bit better concentration to have a go. I watched a BYU Library webinar this morning about tagging in general, but Kathryn Grant didn't cover the Memories/pictures tagging. If you have access to her, it might be a good topic to suggest to her.
