- Can you direct me to this James Mckinney, "Michigan, Marriages, 1868-1925" that has a last name of McKinney. I'm unsure if it is (our) James W. McKimmy who married Mary Elizabeth Wilt? I know the Correct Spelling of Surname to McKinney was due to: Francis Marion McKimmy, Civil War Enlistment Officer who typed up the Surname Incorrectly. Which, his Siblings gave Sworn Affidavits of Testimony as to Correct Spelling of Surname as McKimmy, though despite Promises of Correction was buried in his Civil War Pension File. Sadly, Francis Marion McKimmy Civil War Headstone is engraved one way, Marriage Certificate another then Civilian once again another. Note: Migration started somewhere in Pennsylvania to Preston County, VA/WV. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thank You!
