Very wrong place name on records
This has been an issue on the lutheran church records in Russia for a long time now, I'm not sure where else to report this.
Almost all records have a wrong place name associated with them. I would correct them on a manual basis, but those are not just a few records. For example, the one below points to a place called "Russian America" in Alaska, even though it should be in the Molotschna parish of the Melitopol uyezd.

@SerraNola has taken the lead on compiling the information on the errors created by the place auto-standardizing algorithm.
As today is a holiday in the USA, it may be a few days before you receive a response.

@dmk_krm You are correct that this problem with the Russia Lutheran Church Records appeared and was reported long ago. There are other errors but the biggest impact comes from over 300,000 showing as Alaska or Russian America in search results. The indexed place name in the image viewer shows as Novorossiisk, Black Sea Guberniya, Russian Empire, which is also incorrect and was not how they were originally indexed. This chart shows the original localities. On the film there is a cover page for each parish to help find your way until this can be fixed.
As always, thank you for calling this to our attention. I can link your post on the error report as a recent complaint.
