So, I'm attempting to index a record. However, there is a big problem:

That is literally a screenshot from the record in question. How do I index this? August 7? Assume it was a typo and index as July 28?

Help!

I'd mark it blank, and remember that we do not assume anything in indexing. The researcher will be able to see the date when s/he views the document.

Update: For those who can't see the screenshot, it gives a birth date of July 38, which isn't a valid date.

I would mark it blank as well. Just wanted to add that I would guess that the typist may have tried to erase the 3 but didn't do a very good job of it. Photography can highlight errors we thought we had fixed.
