relationship
Jane Fowler - G2P6-GQS is listed as a step. This is incorrect. How do I change this.

@paulinewilson1 You seem to have listed her as "step" yourself. You even filled the reason statement for this.
You can change that by klicking the pencil behind her name. Then click the pencil behind "Relationship to Child", in this case for the mother.

The reason statement was made in Feb 2024 by an earlier contributor.
When a profile is merged, that reason statement is carried over, and the name of the last contributor (Pauline in this case) is attached.

@Áine Ní Donnghaile I've never noticed that with a merge also the name of the last contributor becomes attached to all of the entries. I just made 2 merges and there it is not the case. But in this case you seem to be right. Peculiar. 😯

A merge normally attaches the name of the user who instituted the merge to most fields. We've had a few discussions about that point here in the Community.

Merging changes the contributor of transferred conclusions, but not of unchanged conclusions that were already on the "survivor".
The handling of relationships in merges is murky, but I believe the same basic idea applies: if the surviving profile already had that relationship, then nothing changes, but if the relationship is moved over from the merge-deleted profile, then the contributor information on the relationship changes to the user doing the merge.
