Family Tree: "There are two persons in the record with the same id" for the same person?

Why is this message occurring for seemingly the same person?

We detected a possible relationship issue in the Family Tree.

It seems unlikely that the following relationships could exist at the same time:

There are two persons in the record with the same id: Esmond Hendricks (G8GL-K93) and Esmond Hendricks (G8GL-K93).

The Community platform often corrupts the URL. The repaired URL is:
    https://www.familysearch.org/search/linker?ark=/ark:/61903/1:1:7FJP-YNT2&id=GQ67-6R2&hinting=/tree/person/details/GQ67-6R2

Following the link in the message, to review the people involved, I see that Esmond Hendricks is shown with 2 biological mothers. That is likely what the error message is calling out as a problem.

You'll want to review the family relationships and repair/edit as needed.

Except the error message implies that it's the record (WWI draft card) that may be wrong …?

    image.png

Except except … I see absolutely nothing wrong with it. The only weirdness I see is the switched order for Lee and Ann as Esmond's parents. (The fact that neither set of parents has been marked as non-biological is not normally a trigger for any error messages.)

I think someone should ask about this in the New Source Linker Feedback group. I'm not sure it's an intentional scenario: I mean, Esmond isn't even mentioned anywhere in the record. (Unsurprisingly, given that he was a small child.) It makes no sense for Source Linker to be complaining about him in connection with his father's draft card.

Or it could be that the wrong error message - which seems to be new - popped up. That's been known to happen with Beta/new projects.

In any case, reviewing and editing the relationships won't hurt and it may help.

    Áine and Julia,

Thank for reviewing and commenting about this issue and correcting the URL. I've worked on thousands of persons with multiple biological mothers or fathers and have never encountered this error. I posted a link to this issue in the Source Linker group, https://community.familysearch.org/en/discussion/168301/family-tree-there-are-two-persons-in-the-record-with-the-same-id-for-the-same-person/p1?new=1.

I think that the "unlikely … relationship" that the message refers to is the "fact" that Ann White is recorded as both Lee's mother and the mother of his child Esmond. That relationship was added on March 12, 2024. Ann's and Esmond's birthdates, 1838 and 1911, would suggest that this relationship should be removed.

    Julian,

Thank you very much for figuring this out. I corrected the relationship.

The message does not match (in my opinion) the problem. Perhaps it could be made more helpful.

    Thanks,

    Anne

As I said a few days ago
