Hi folks, currently indexing a marriage register and cannot work out why the grooms surname is different from his parents? e.g.: Grooms name: Michael Lowry, parents listed as Thomas and Nora Cashin. Do I assume that the Fathers name is Thomas Lowry and the Mothers' name is noted by her maiden name as Nora Cashin?

It's always a good idea to share your indexing batch number so we can see what you see. You can find the batch number under Batch, About Batch in the top row -

There is also an updated warning about indexing names in the Irish Catholic registers that appears when you open a batch to work on it -
