An ode to the Source Box
…and specifically to the "linked sets of instances" that it allows us to create.
Back in August, I found a screenshot of a funeral notice on Geni. As is usual on that site, there was absolutely no information given about the origins of that image, and my searches on the relevant newspaper sites didn't turn it up, so I ended up just using the image to create a source on FS. I attached it to all 25 people mentioned.
Today, I got a message from someone who'd gotten the newspaper site to cough up the notice. He/she even gave the PID of one of the profiles where it's attached, so I went in and added the link and citation on that instance — and now it's correct on all of the profiles. All 25 in one shot.
It's glorious.
