How do I add an extra generation within my tree. Someone has made a short cut and put the wrong person and spouse and inserted it into the tree. I need to correct this without losing the ancestors and/or descendants.

You can edit the relationships without losing any of the details. Step-by-step instructions: https://www.familysearch.org/en/wiki/img_auth.php/2/26/FT-09_Correcting_Relationships_in_Family_Tree_A_Mann_2016-2909214-I_Oct_2016_JMR.pdf
