Why does Family Tree insist on Male or Female being specified for individuals in Public accounts?
I understand the issue regarding ordinances, but should users be instructed to specify whether an individual was born male or female when records do not specify such?
I have an individual who has been indexed with just a surname and appears in a search of both males and females in public records. As I am able to add the individual as "Unknown", I believe I should be able to Dismiss the warning flag "Male or Female Is Required / Must Be Specified".
Update - In my particular example, I now have reason to believe twins were the subject of these records (there are male / female death records to match). However, I still believe my question is valid, especially in respect of children who died before their biological sex could be determined.
Of course, there are wider issues today involving gender identification, but I will stick to my specific question on the issue of an unknown, biological sex for now!

Wonder of wonders, Paul, you used the 3-letter word starting with s and ending with x, and the nanny bot did not block it!
I agree. Sometimes, we simply don't know the biology when we create the profile. Sometimes, we can later learn it but not always.

(Having to copy/paste as just can't get above to format properly)
Yes, (on the point you raise) I wonder if it is because I typed "biological" before typing the 3-letter word?

@Paul W I wondered, too, if the presence of an adjective protected the noun.

I agree that particular data flag is a problem because it is false. The program allows you to mark "unknown" when creating or editing a profile without the least problem. So it is not required and does not need to be specified.
I think it is fine to have it as a data warning (not an "error") but the wording should be changed to something like "Neither Male nor Female have been marked" and should be dismissible for those situations where the correct choice will never be known.
All other warnings regarding requirements for ordinance are found on the Ordinance page and not on the Details page and this warning also is found there so from that standpoint is not needed on the Details page.
