Hello,

Looking for Kaess Descendants from the Black Sea German Colonies in Gnadental, Lichtental, and Sarata, all in the former Bessarabia, South Russia. I am the Village Coordinator for these Villages at AHSGR. I am wondering if these Descendants survived the Repressions of the Russian revolution, famines, and Stalin's purges and decrees, all in the first half of the 20th century. Perhaps some were sent to the East, others stayed, and perhaps some were even welcomed by the German Army as ethnic Germans to be resettled to Germany proper. In any case, I would love to hear from Descendants from these villages about the fate of the GR inhabitants of these towns during that time period.

Much Obliged,

Brian Paul Kaess

An awful lot of research has been done on Germans From Russia. I would to a general internet search for the Bessarabian emmigration from Russia. Also I would register to attend some of the Black Sea Germans from Russia conferences. They are not all Black Sea oriented, but there are a lot of experts who are desdendants and have dedicated their lives to keeping this knowledge alive. I was going to put a series of links here for you, but you can find them all by doing a google search. Many of them have surname search capability. Good luck.
