question about City Directories

I am reviewing US—City Directories, 1901–1935 [Part E] [MQ2D-T3W].

I am confused how to tell who the spouses are in this directory.

Here are a few examples:

Pichon Chas and Julius

Poirson F J and C S

Poirson J and A L White

The first seems to be spouses. The last seem to be two separate people, but what do I do with the second where they are initials?

"Access restricted": did you already submit the batch? Or is it an inexplicably-restricted project? (I only see a Part D if I use "find a batch".)

In 1901-1935, Chas (=Charles) and Julius are not spouses. In fact, I don't think any of those entries list a spouse. Are there other entries on the page that clearly list a wife? How are those formatted?

I think for the city directories, it would be nice if the reference images could always include the page from the frontmatter explaining the formatting of that particular directory. (Assuming there is such an explanation or key somewhere.) I suppose you could use the film and image number that can usually be deciphered from "About Batch" to see if you can find such a key. Absent such, I would index each name separately: Chas Pichon, Julius Pichon, F J Poirson, C S Poirson, J Poirson, and A L White. Let the researcher figure out why some of the people share a line.

I am reviewing City Directories. There are businesses listed with names. The instructions say "Index each unigue name". I think that includes names listed in business information. Most names in businesses are not listed. I have read the instructions many times. I can't find anything that tells me not to include them. Any Ideas,..?

Names that are with business listing are not indexed. They will have their own, separate, listing elsewhere in the directory.

what about other names that are listed after the occupation of the primary name is listed?

Names that are listed with the primary person; i.e. John Bradley, salesman, 1234 Main Street, Barbara, are indexed. Barbara is the spouse of John, so it is indexed as:

    GN: John
    SN: Bradley
    Spouse's GN: Barbara
    Spouse's SN: Bradley
