On a few given names it looks like the typist didn't get the letter or it didn't print but should have been there (not an abbreviation like Danl or Edwd). Should I fill in what I know it should be or leave it as is? Generally, I type exactly what I see, but I think in this case it might make it hard to search.

Examples:

Given name originally typed is "Pa k", "Patk" is what should have been typed. (previous name on list Norman, following name Patk A).

Given name originally typed is "Wal er", "Walter" is what should have been typed, (previous name on list is Vivien, following name is Walton).

You index what you see; we do not add anything to entries.

We don't know what "should have been typed," because none of us were there when it was typed/printed/landed at people's doors. Nothing is added to entries. If it says "Pat k" or "Vic A" or "Joh N H," then that is what is indexed.

Another example: Given name originally typed is "Vic or A", "Victor A" is what should have been typed, (previous name on list is Verna, following name is Wm H).
