You connect individuals. For example, if you have a person one one tree without parents and another tree displaying those parents, take a note of the ID number of the child and add him/her to the parents on the second tree.

There is only one tree. The FamilySearch Family Tree is a single collaborative tree for all. As Graham says, you connect individuals - starting from yourself and working backward through your parents and grandparents until you reach the closest deceased generation in your line. Then you will likely find most of those people already have existing profiles in the FSFT.
