Guidance creating a new tree section
I have 7 names from one branch of my family from +-1900 that are not in the tree yet. I want to create a new tree section and put them in it. But I don't know how. Could someone please give me some newbee-type guidance?
Thanks.

So when you say +- 1900, I'm not sure if you are indicating to add more ancestors in the 20th century or more ancestors prior to 1900. If you are wanting to add more ancestors in the 20th century, that implies finding couples on your branch of the tree who have missing children. Source and add the children and their spouses. If you are talking the opposite direction, that means there are lines in your lineage where people are a "dead end" and have no parents. Source and add parents.
Or, do you merely mean you have people in your lineage where there are siblings with no information? In that case you would research their lives to add spouses, children and in-laws. This can be a very fruitful activity, quite frankly, where new information about YOUR ancestors becomes known.
In all of the above instances, it is possible these siblings or parents or children are, in fact, researched, just not connected to your ancestral family group. There are "floating" branches, where single family groups are sourced, but not attached to the tree, and there are what I call "dangling" branches where this information is already proven, but it is on the in-law branch of the world tree and not yours. In either case the sibling/parent/child of your ancestor would have a duplicate person page and you would merge them, thus connecting the two branches of the world tree or connecting the floater to the world tree.
I hope this all makes sense.

I'm wondering if what the poster was trying to ask about was the whereabouts of the "add unconnected person" option?
(It's at the bottom of the Recents menu.)

The 7 siblings I want to add have never been in the tree. All I know about them is their names and roughly their birth decades. I know the names of several close relatives who ARE in the tree. But I guess that's not enough to create a new section.

This might be a good opportunity to use the "Other Relationships" feature.
"Biological relationships aren’t the only relationships that
matter—and unrelated individuals are often listed in historical records
together. They may be witnesses to death, marriage, or other important
life events. They may have been boarders living in a household when a
census was taken or people doing business with each other. In Family Tree, use the Other Relationships feature to record these types
of relationships. You can also use this feature to record unclear or
ambiguous family relationships whose exact line of connection or descent
is unknown. The details associated with a particular relationship
can often lead to unexpected discoveries about your ancestors and add
context to your family story. These relationships can be
especially helpful if your ancestors migrated and you cannot find where
they settled. People often migrated with their friends, neighbors, and
family. If you cannot find your ancestors, you may be able to find them
by researching the people who lived nearby. You can record the following types of Other Relationships in Family Tree:
- Apprenticeship
- Employment
- Godparent
- Household
- Neighbor
- Relative
- Enslavement

Thanks. I'll see what I can do with "Relative".

With the "Add Unconnected" option, you don't need any relative or relationship.
