Good morning

Is there a way to find adoption records? Hermon and Mary Jane Learned Wright adopted a son Abraham Lincoln Wright. Possibly Abraham is not birth name. Abraham birth listed as Jan. 30,1867. Hermon and Mary married in NH, and moved to NH

Thank you Barbara

    Hi Barbara
I haven't been able to establish when Adoption started in NH. Massachusetts made it law in 1851 so it could well have been operating in NH by 1867.
The FamilySearch wiki page on adoption in NH can be found here:-
    https://www.familysearch.org/en/wiki/New_Hampshire_Adoption_Research
There is a small section on pre 1900s which suggests contacting the Clerk of the District Court in the relevant county e.g. Hillsborough:- https://www.familysearch.org/en/wiki/Hillsborough_County%2C_New_Hampshire_Genealogy
You may find this page from Boston Public Library helpful.

    Hope that helps.
