Record hints
How is it possible that I have more than 3000 record hints? Yesterday there were only 25!

There are multiple events that can increase your number of hints, sometimes dramatically:
- Changes to relationships or persons in your portion of Family Tree that add new relatives with available hints
- Availability of new record collections that are connected to your relatives
- Crossing certain thresholds of available hints. The system tries to make sure that you always have hints available, and looks in the Tree at a certain depth. I don't know just what that is in your case, but suppose it is up 6 generations and down 1. Then when your number of available hints drops below a threshold (perhaps 25), then the depth of the search increases for you. It's possible that going up 6 generations and down 2 could add hundreds of people with thousands of hints.
I would guess that most dramatic increases are related to the third point, but combinations of these events could make the increase even more significant.
In any case, as long as the hints are valid (and I am seeing no evidence of last month's problem reoccurring), I wouldn't worry about it. As long as you have a set of valid hints to work on, the system is working as intended.

Half an hour later, and now I have more than 4000! What the heck?

Last month, people were reporting disappearing hints: they'd click through from the home page's list and there'd be nothing actually on the profile. Maybe the fix for that is now causing the system to overcompensate in the other direction?
For whatever it's worth, my list still says 41, same as it has for the past month. I haven't looked at any of the hints, so I don't know how that number relates to reality.

May I ask… what kind of hints are they? Do they appear to be regular record hints or are they genealogy tree hints or rootsfinder hints, etc…?

Regular record hints. Today it is back to 21. Must have been a glitch. ?

Having over 1700 record hints is unmanageable. Is there a way to limit hints (i.e., 100) and to dismiss those we do not want to work on? If not, please add.
