My family name is spelled correctly in the census record but somehow it was changed when added to FamilySearch. How can this be corrected? My family is huge so this affects a great many of us.

Good morning. If the name is misspelled in the FamilySearch Family Tree, you can correct it. The Tree is fully open-edit and collaborative. Anyone can edit, correct, connect, or detach profiles within the tree.

If you are on the Profile Detail page, you will see a small pencil icon on every field that can be edited.

IF you are referring to the index of that census record, then that's not the tree, but a record that can also be edited. Unfortunately, that index edit function is not working very well at the moment. I would recommend waiting to make that kind of edit.
