site bogging down
I've posted about this issue before in the New Person Page group but since I'm still having the same problem, I'm posting about it again. If this isn't the right group for this question, please direct me to the right group. Thank you!
Ever since updated version was rolled out, I've had numerous instances of the site bogging down completely. I'll get the message (paraphrased) "this page is slowing down the website, would you like to stop it?" I stop the page but that doesn't fit the problem. I've logged out, deleted cookies, logged back in but that also doesn't fix the problem. I've repeated that process several times. No help. When that happens I have to close all FS windows, log out, delete cookies and walk away. It's annoying when I'm hot on the trail of solving a puzzle only to be stopped in my tracks.
There is some process working in the background because I can hear my computer fan running on high. I don't have this problem on any other website, only on FS. I'm working on a PC laptop, Windows 10, Firefox browser, latest version. However, it doesn't seem to matter whether I'm using Firefox or Chrome as my browser. There isn't anything more I can do at my end to address this.
Why is it doing this? What is being done to address this? Or is anything being done to fix it?
TIA!
PS This is my second try at posting. The first post disappeared. I'm logged in. I've posted many times before in FS Community.

It started working again - yay! - but it wasn't long before the problem returned again. Would someone please address this?

@LisaAlbert1 Are you working in the new Record Viewer/Editor? That's the only time there is extreme slowness for me.
There are acknowledged issues with the new Record Viewer/Editor, and we have been told that the engineers are aware.

Maybe? I'm trying to view hints for a profile but clicking on the hints goes nowhere. It acts as if the link is broken or nonexistent. So I'm not sure if it has anything to do with the new Record Viewer/Editor because I don't even get that far.
It does seem to happen more often when I'm working on Firefox than on Chrome but there are plenty of times when both browsers are plagued by whatever is going on, regardless whether or how often I log out, clear cookies, clear cache, etc.
Thanks for the update and the link (I'm pretty sure I posted in that discussion, too). Sure hope the engineers get this hiccup fixed at their end.

It's happening again. Clicking anywhere on someone's profile does diddly squat. Well almost. I can copy the PID, I can edit fields but I can't open any of the hints. I'll hit "stop" and for a moment, it looks like it's going to work but this is all that happens: a blank field where the hint review should be.
I can't close that hint field by hitting the X on the top right. The little hand shows up so I can close it but clicking does nothing. It's simply stuck. The only way to close that view is to refresh the page. Something is going on in the background because my computer fan is running high.
Does this sound like my issue is related to the Record Viewer/Editor issue? Or is this unrelated and an issue related to the New Person Page?
Thanks for your help!

@LisaAlbert1 Have you tried using a different browser and/or clearing your FS cookies in your preferred browser?
From your screenshot, I just pulled up the profiles for Barbara Schmitt, selected the 1st hint in the list, and it appeared immediately. And the other hints did the same:

Here is a link to the page for resetting your FamilySearch cookies. I hope it helps! (I keep it bookmarked now)

@Áine Ní Donnghaile. "Have you tried using a different browser and/or clearing your FS cookies in your preferred browser?" Yes, repeatedly. I log out, close windows, delete cookies and try again. Sometimes once is enough. Other times, no matter how many times I try, it's a useless effort. The problem is sporadic, which doesn't make it easy to figure out what's going on. I've opened Task Manager to see if I can figure out what is sucking up so much juice the next time it happens in case that offers a clue. It may happen again the next time I go to FS or it may not happen again for days or weeks.
@vjdavis, thanks, but I'm not sure how that differs from deleting cookies via my browser's security section. Won't the end result be the same regardless of the method used?

@Áine Ní Donnghaile I should add that I prefer using Firefox. I find the font size, color, etc so much easier to read for any length of time than what Chrome uses. But I will use Chrome in a pinch. As I wrote above, Firefox seems to be plagued more often, although it could simply be because I use Firefox regularly, but Chrome is not immune to the issue. Thanks for your continued assistance.

@LisaAlbert1, like Áine, I went to Barbara's page (https://www.familysearch.org/tree/person/details/M178-7J1) and had no trouble with any of the hints, and (knock on wood) I've never seen the symptoms you describe. I'm using the same software you are (Win10, Firefox current), so I really can't imagine what could be causing this problem. Do you perhaps have some kind of plug-in or add-on running, or perhaps security software (antivirus/firewall) doing something in the background, and not playing well with FS?

@LisaAlbert1 I'm on Windows 10, Firefox, both fully updated. I checked that PID on both Firefox and Chrome.
I've seen something similar - where the record took a long time to appear.
Clearing FS cookies regularly is a recommended practice. Many users don't know how to clear cookies, so FS makes it easy with a one-step process.

@Áine Ní Donnghaile, thanks for the explanation about the FS clear cookies step. And thanks for letting me know that you've experienced long delays in records appearing. I clear cookies fairly regularly as a rule but I clear cookies almost daily for FS. They've set it up so that I have to log in each day (and sometimes more than once a day) unlike other sites that only log me out at my request. Perhaps that's a factor?
@Julia Szent-Györgyi, hopefully having Task Manager open all the time now will help me figure out the root cause of this bog down issue. I'll ask hubs about add-ons and plug-ins since he sets those up for me (he's a software engineer aka my in-house geek squad, lol). As I wrote, this problem is so sporadic, sometimes not reappearing for weeks, other times multiple times a day. I haven't gone to the site yet today after logging out and deleting cookies yesterday. Hopefully the issue has resolved itself again.
Thanks to you both for your assistance!
