Charles Brooks KWC4-C1C married Angelina King KWC4-C1Z in the Logan Temple 9 March 1892.

Analyzing the marriage register in sources: marriage register was in March 1891. The first child was born in 1887. Would Charles and Angelina have been married before registered with Utah Territory? Thank you :)

Many/most marriages were registered at the county level, not at the state/territory level. The preprinted Marriage License book is from Cache County, Utah Territory, while the handwritten information in the record states Salt Lake City, Salt Lake County. https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/3:1:939Z-BG8H-J

Did you find the original image for this source: https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:F8PD-XWG ? It is the only one with the 9 March 1891 date so I suspect the 1891 is a transcription error. All the other sources show 1892 as the year

Looking at the record, I would assume that Charles and Angelina had a church or civil marriage as shown on their record 23 November 1886 then on 9 March 1892 got a marriage license in Logan, then either the same day or the day after on 10 March 1892 (depending on which source you look at) had a temple marriage in the Logan Temple. This is a very reasonable course of events. The Salt Lake Temple was not completed until 1893 so that is why, although both from Salt Lake City, they would have traveled from Salt Lake to Logan for the ceremony.

There are a couple of interesting things to note on the the clerk's recording of the marriage license and the marriage certificate that Áine links to: This preprinted record book appears to be only for use by "an Elder of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints" which implies such volumes were only for temple marriages. Also, note that in the upper license portion, Angelina's name includes her married name which confirms that this couple were already married.

The index Gordon is linked to is on DGS 4540806.

Browsing that DGS, there is an alpha index with a date of 9 Mar 1892 on Image 19 https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/3:1:939Z-BLSH-RJ
