FamilySearch website no longer working in Microsoft Edge
Over the past week I have noticed that the FamilySearch website no longer seems to be working when I use the Microsoft Edge browser in Windows 11.
Chrome still seems to handle FamilySearch perfectly. I haven't tried other browsers.
The particular issue with Edge occurs in the selection of options during the search of records. For example, if I am performing a search and wish to limit the search to a specific country, I can type the name of the country and select the option when it pops up. However, this then clears the box rather than populating it with the country name. I have not been able to find a way around this.
This issue has only arisen in recent days.

I haven't upgraded to Windows 11 yet, but using 10 with Edge is not causing any similar problems for me.
Perhaps another user who does have Windows 11 could test to see if they can replicate your problem, but you have done the right thing in specifying your browser / operating system.

This past week Edge and Chrome both had updates on my Mac, so it is really important you set any browser you use to automatically update. I have lost the link, but I am sure I read that FamilySearch is only compatible with the most recent version and one version back for browsers they support. If you do not allow automatic updates, I recommend checking Edge to see if an update is recommended.

Good advice indeed to keep everything up to date.
My Windows 11, Edge and Chrome are all fully up to date with updates. And as you mentioned there were a rash of updates implemented in the last week to ten days.
In fact, I was suspicious that the root cause to the FamilySearch problems in Edge could be related to the recent updates.
Last night I performed a restart on the PC two times to see if that would clear the issue, however, it didn’t, the problem persisted with FamilySearch in Edge.

So looking at the exact problem you describe, what field were you using to try to restrict the search results to a specific country? I just tried using the residence field, and everything seemed to work as expected. Did you do something else? The first country I chose (Denmark) exists today, so I decided to use another ancestor who died in a Ukrainian town that was renamed in 1917, and of course the location has switched countries at least 3 times in the 20th century, but when the death occurred it was still the Russian Empire.
I still couldn't replicate your issue, but again, I was using the residence field. What were you using?

@John Curran Have you tried the basic troubleshooting step of clearing your cookies in FamilySearch on Edge? Since FS works in Chrome for you, the problem lies between FS and Edge. Try clearing your FS site-specific cookies in Edge.

I couldn't find a way to upload a screen capture video to illustrate the issue actually happening, so I have instead uploaded four images in which I have tried to capture the sequence of events.
In the images below I an using Microsoft Edge in Windows 11. I type "Eng" in the country field and the dropdown box offers "England" as an available option. However, when I then click on this suggestion the country field is cleared rather than being populated.
This seems to be a reproducible problem that commenced within the last ten days and is not present in Chrome.
I hope this gives a little more specific explanation.

Clearing cookies is an interesting suggestion.
MS Edge on my machine currently has 53 cookies pertaining to FamilySearch. I am a little reluctant to simply clear them all, as they do perform a function. Also, I am not confident that the issue I am experiencing would be cookie related, however, I could be wrong.
So for the moment, I haven't cleared cookies.

Clearing your FS cookies is the most basic of troubleshooting steps and highly recommended when something does not work as expected. You won't lose anything.

@John Curran Your screenshots seem to conflict with what you indicated you were doing. Your initial post said you were searching for records. However, your screen shots are searching for locations to add a life event. I don't have an option to add a life event, so I'm wondering if this is a Church account related issue. Any information I add to the Vitals or Other Information sections gets a specific title added and is not "Life Event".

@Gail Swihart Watson This is indeed a record search. The screen shots show adding a life event and then a location to the search parameters as you refine a record search you have already begun (not adding a life event to a person). If you go, for example, to Search Results - John Smith • FamilySearch you will see the screens.
However, @John Curran , when I carefully follow your steps on Edge, the England location does appear in the Country or Location field as expected.

@Áine Ní Donnghaile I went in an followed your advice on clearing all FS cookies.
As you mentioned you are indeed correct, I did not lose anything. Unfortunately the issue did not go away.

@Alan E. Brown thank you for working through the steps on your machine. Interesting to learn that you are not seeing the issue.
The issue is persisting with me through restarts and clearing of cookies.
It is not a big issue at all. I have a solid work around, which is to use Chrome. I just wanted to report it in case it would be of value in addressing some underlying issue.

@John Curran If the issue was a general FamilySearch problem in Edge, we would be seeing multiple posts from others. We are not.
The most likely cause of the problem, since clearing cookies did not resolve it, is an extension or add-on installed on your version of Edge.

I tend to agree with you @Áine Ní Donnghaile if others are not reporting the issue then it must be a localized thing for my particular configuration.
I don't believe its an extension or add-on effect as I do not have any extensions or add-ons in Edge.
I am sure it will sort itself out in time with subsequent updates.
