Documents print darker and are less clear than they are when viewed on the computer.

It is harder to read many NARA and other document images including censuses because they have a darker gray background than the image is on your computer's screen or mine. My relatively recent black & white Brother printer prints other things correctly. I have a recent Dell PC using Windows 11. I don't think I have unusual printing settings. Why does this happen? Can it be fixed for all of us?

    Have you tried deselecting the "Print backgrounds" option on your printer?
