Naturalization Certificate
I am trying to locate a Naturalization Certifcate for a family member. I thought I requested the right document from genealogy.uscis,dhs. But I only did an index search. When I go to request the it asks for a naturalization certification number. I thought this was the point to find it.
How do I request the document or how do I find the naturalization number? All I have is their name on it an an alien enemies # 3404-P-1730 and a date of 7-26-43 to go off of. I am trying to find out if they naturalized or not.

Original naturalization records are kept locally at county or state level in most states. FamilySearch and Ancestry both have huge collections of digitized original documents, and the states have released different years. You may have to contact the state since you may have a rejected petition rather than a naturalization.
Also, be aware that duplicates of the actual certificates were usually not made, according to the National Archives web site. If the family did not retain the original, you may not find a copy.
