PID numbers have changed so they can't be highlighted to drag and drop
I use 2 screens, and I find it very helpful and efficient to be able to quickly highlight a PID on one screen and drag and drop it onto the other. Although I do like being able to just click and copy a number also in some circumstances, I used to be able to also highlight the number and that ability has been removed so I now have to type in the number manually or lose what I have on my clipboard forcing me to go copy that again.
Also, some places when I type in the PID manually it allows me to not put in the "-" and some places (such as on the memories page when specifying who a person is in the tree) requires it or says it is invalid. I would be helpful if all the fields could be entered without the "-"

What OS and browser are you using?
I can click any PID, and it is copied to my clipboard (with a pop-up message indicating it has been copied) and then paste anywhere else. Using Windows 10, Firefox, Chrome, Edge, all fully up-to-date.

My point is that sometimes I don't want to click and copy to the clipboard - that replaces what I already have on the clipboard and need to paste after I get to the person. I want to be able to highlight the PID and then drag and drop it to the search field on the other screen. Until recently I could do both, either highlight and drag and drop (at least for the PID at the top of the page) or click to copy, but now the ability to highlight the PID anywhere on the page is gone.

Mod note - An incorrect merge occurred, but I have tried to restore it. Please let me know if this conversation is missing anything. Maile

@Rea Jeppson Newell - if you're using Windows, the Clipboard can hold more than your most recent clip.
Mine currently has multiple Ancestry URLs, several from FindMyPast, as well as many from FS. A small portion, as an example:
@Maile L I think everything is here unless someone made a comment that I didn't see. Thanks.

Bringing up the clipboard history and scrolling down and selecting and then back to the other screen just adds extra time and clicks to my work flow. Why can't they just make it so the PID's can be highlighted as well as just clicked to copy again? Frequently the "improvements" just make it more time consuming.

As @Áine Ní Donnghaile mentioned, what operating system and browser are you using? I've never been able to drag and drop the PID. That really would be a time saver! I'm on two screens, too, and seriously trying to get a third screen!

I'm of the opinion that anything that is built into my operating system doesn't need to be replicated by the website. If FamilySearch tried to implement every bell and whistle, I fear the next sound we hear would be a very large crash.

I've just tried it with different browsers, and I'm having the issue of not being able to highlight the PID only with Firefox. I usually use mostly chrome, but the last couple weeks have switched, and it's been about that long that I noticed the issue. I can still highlight the PID on the chrome, edge, and onion browsers and then drag and drop it to the other screen without the extra clicks!
As I mentioned, because this was something I had been doing for several years on FamilySearch and the ability went away, I don't see it as a "bell and whistle" to be added, just brought back when taken away.
@AnneLoForteWillson - I also would like to have 3 screens! Thanks for your input and the idea to try different browsers.
Now if I could just type in a PID without the "-" everywhere when I need to, I would be even happier!
