Include link to Recents on FamilySearch tree menu
When clicking on the Family Tree link in the main FamilySearch menu, there is no entry for Recents. Only after you have selected a person to view on the tree does the Recents link on the sub menu. Thus it takes two steps to begin searching for a recent person. It would be helpful to add the Recents link to the main dropdown menu. See the sample image.

Recents has always been a bit weird. In that second menu bar, all the links function just like tabs in a browser and take you to a new page. Instead, Recents opens a dropdown menu:
So then the question becomes, can a drop down menu full of links to pages be designed to have one item open a secondary drop down menu? Would we really want it to?
Or, should the Recents option in the Family Tree menu bar be redesigned and duplicate the Recents link in the home page menu bar in which one leaves the page and comes to a new one?
Do you think most of us users would be happy with that behavior?

Thank you for the additional insight. I hadn't thought about that particular distinction. Typically I will be on the Search -> Records page with some results, and I want to open Family Tree with a person that I recently worked on. To do that from the Family Tree link in the top menu bar, I have to first click on FamilyTree -> Person, which takes me to the most recent person I worked on. Then I can click on the Recents link there. I always thought I should be able to get there with a single click. Going to the home page and clicking on the Recents link is still two steps.
If a link for Recents were added to the FamilyTree top menu dropdown, could it not open a secondary dropdown menu with the recent names, similar to what is seen in File Explorer? If I am looking at the list of recent people, I typically want to immediately change the page to that view.
Obviously it is not a critical item, but I always look for ways to navigate in as few steps as possible.

Sub-menus can be done, but it'd likely take a complete re-working of FS's menu programming, given that none of the main menu items currently use them. And a sub-menu that's actually a drop-down list would be ...disconcerting, from a user-interface-expectations standpoint.
I suppose the stand-alone "Recents" page that's linked from the home page could be added to the Family Tree menu, but it'd still mean multiple clicks to get to a profile, so I'm not sure it'd be worth the bother.

This request to have Recents under the Family Tree menu has been requested in the past so I doubt this new post on January 10 was the sole trigger for the change I first noticed today but it does show the programmers are listening.
The FamilyTree menu which is accessible anywhere has a new item:
It takes you to the full Recents page:
