In need of a favor with Microfilm 1185018
Hi,
I hope I am in the right place...If there is a different way to go about this, please feel free to redirect me.
Is it possible for someone local in Utah to assist with microfilm research at the Family Search Library? I would be willing to pay for the service but not sure how to go about this, and had a bit of trouble navigating the automated system when I called.
The microfilm in question is Film#: 1185018, DGS: 7990182, Item 7. I am looking specifically for birth records for Moritz Aschner, born in Teterow around between 1829-1831. This is only available on International B1 Floor and has not been digitized.
I've considered flying out to Utah, but would also want to make sure the film is accessible before doing so, and if there are any other options for help with this inquiry, I would appreciate the input. Feeling a little lost!
Thank you

All microfilm has been digitized. The reel icon now means not available online or at FamilySearch Centers or Affiliate Libraries.
The free remote lookup service ended in July 2023.
While the Free Research Consultation service cannot provide images, the staffer should be able to tell you if the information is easily accessible during an in-person visit.

I see, so if I'm seeing a reel icon, that means I wouldn't be able to view the films anywhere, even at the Utah location?
Thanks for the clarification

You can view the DGS images shown with reel icon ONLY at the FHL in Salt Lake. I said not available online or at FamilySearch Centers or Affiliate Libraries. I did not say you couldn't view in Salt Lake.

I see, thank you. So just to make sure I'm clear, there is zero avenue for obtaining these images, or information from these images, other than flying to the Salt Lake library myself, correct? There's no avenue to connect with any volunteers or pay anyone for their time and assistance?
I just made a consultation and will see if the research consult can tell me if the films may provide what I am looking for... I really hope if I make this trip that it will be fruitful.

If you want to pay for a professional genealogist you can find one who is in Salt Lake City from the Directory in the website of the Association of Professional Genealogists
About half way down the (short) Home page, click on Find a Genealogist

@MelissaAshner If you can wait 2 months, I will be in SLC for RootsTech and would be happy to look up the microfilm at the FamilySearch Library for FREE. A group of us are flying in a day early and flying out a day late so we can go to the Library, so I will be there anyway. My son lives an hour from there and might be in that area sooner. If you want my help, just email me. --Michele Bailey
