Why am I seeing this?

This pops up in the hint list but the record is already attached to the individual mentioned. As far as I can tell there's nothing else to do with it but I cannot get it to dismiss. There are other records which have similar issues.

I visited this person's page https://www.familysearch.org/tree/person/details/LF2Y-HFZ and did not see any record hints. Your screen shot shows what you see after clicking on a hint, but you do not include the top banner that shows who the record hint is for, so we can't tell if it is for the exact same person: Sarah Anne Adams Youmans. Even with that uncertainty, I wonder if the hint is for a different person (at least a person with a different person ID) from the Sarah it is already attached to.

Here is an example from my hints list on my home page. Notice that the hint is for one George Berrett (person ID circled in red), but it is already attached to a different George Berrett (person ID circled in green).

This is a valid hint, since the record matches the George Berrett in the Tree and it is not attached to him (even though it is attached to someone else). I can click on the George Berrett in the banner at the top (the one the hint is for) to go to his person page, where I will see the record hint. There I can review it, and choose "Not a Match" if I am sure it is not for him. If instead I click on the other George Berrett with the green circle, I won't see a record hint, since the source record is already attached to him.

This is also an alternate way to find duplicates in Family Tree. In @Alan E. Brown 's example, the birth dates are soo different that these are clearly two different George Berrets. However, what you will more often find, is that the two people with different IDs - the one with the hint and the one who the source is attached to - are, in fact, two duplicates of the same individual that need to be merged.

If you post exactly were you are seeing the hint, whether on a person's detail page, on a Hints or Task list, or in an e-mail campaign, or somewhere else then we could maybe give more information as to what you are actually seeing and why a hint will not dismiss. A couple more examples of where you are seeing this may be helpful.

I wonder if by "the hint list" you are actually referring to the item listed under "Similar Records"?

I find the clutter caused by an often very long list of records that have already been attached to the individual is very annoying and needs to be stopped.
