Back arrow on Source Box page

When you are on a person's source page in Family Tree and you click on "Add Source--From Source Box" you can see the person's name with a left arrow at the top of the Source Box page.

After you attach the source to a person you cannot click on that back arrow. Instead, a new browser window or tab has been opened to get to the Source Box, so you have to click on the other browser tab with the person's name on it.

So why even have the person at the top with an arrow if the arrow doesn't work?

Please make this slight adjustment to the programming by removing the arrow. Or make the arrow functional.

Thank you.

That's a completely different topic, @Áine Ní Donnghaile. That one wanted the browser's back arrow on a page where it's unavailable (because Source Linker opens in a new tab). This is the opposite, and not Source Linker: when you use your Source Box to attach a source, there is an arrow (not your browser's, though) -- only it doesn't actually do anything.

This is actually a very similar problem as with the source linker and is a browser issue apparently. In Safari, both the source linker and the source box open in a new tab. The source linker does get a back arrow:

which functions just fine to close the tab and return to the previous tab.

The source box gets both the browser back arrow and the bar across the top:

and I can click on either the back arrow or anywhere in the box drawn here:

to close the tab and return to the page I came from.

Firefox and Chrome on my Mac do not work this way. The back arrows for the browser are inactive in the new tabs of the source linker and source box and the banner in the source box is also inactive.

If I click and hold on the back arrow in Firefox and Chrome in the new tab, there is no history. However, in Safari there is:

The 'Back Arrow' on the Source Box was working just fine until fairly recently. There is a similar functionality when exiting 'Research Helps' which still works....

    @Chas Howell

Interesting: as it is functioning for me - using Windows 10 with Chrome, Firefox and Edge browsers.

Fix the "person" back arrow on the Source Box page so it takes you back to that person.

On the source box attach page, in the blue line at the top of the page, the attach person's name and a back arrow used to take you back to that person's page. As of 25 Nov 2023 or sooner the back arrow does not work at all. Terry Poulin

When I attach a source for my source box I can not return to the person. Clicking on the arrow to the left of the persons name does not do anything. This used to cause the tree to return to the source page for the person.

    Thanks

When you use "Add Source - Attach From Source Box", your Source Box opens in a new tab. In most browsers, you can return the focus to the profile's source page by simply closing the tab with your Source Box.

That said, I agree that having that non-functional arrow is perplexing at best.
