why does a relative marked preferred not show up in my fan chart?

My 2d great grandparents were only married for 3 years prior to his death. Even though I have marked him preferred (because of the shared DNA), her second husband shows up in my fan chart. How can I correct this?

Setting a preferred spouse has practically no effect on how the fan chart is drawn. What you really want to do is to select the preferred PARENTS. Go to your great-grandparent (the child of those 2d great grandparents who is your direct ancestor). Then in the Family Members section click Set Preferred and choose the parents you want to be used in drawing the fan chart.

Yes! That took care of it. Thanks you so much for the feedback.
