My relative was a veteran of three wars. I do not have any pictures to upload, but I want to honor his service in my family tree. Any suggestions?

    Hi Barbara,

Have you thought about going into the memories section of FamilySearch and writing a story about him. You do not have photos of him but if you have any certificates e. g. birth or death. You can put them in.

You could also ask family members if they have any photos or documents about him.

You could also try to find out which regiment he served in. Military records are usually quite good.

I hope that these suggestions will help you find out more about your relative.

    Best wishes.

Thank you for your reply and suggestions. Many of the family members are gone but I will try your suggestions. I do have a few photographs but not military. My question, however was more about proper wording or use of badge icons or images available free via internet, such as the Viet Nam Era Veteran badge. I would like to add these to his gallery image section to show that he served in those very important wars. He told me that he originally joined because his older brother had been captured (WWII) and he wanted to rescue him. It evolved into a career, as he served in two more wars before his retirement. He served proudly in defense of our country and I am honored to have known him, though I did not know about or meet him until the last few years of his life.

@BarbaraAichele, you can also go to Other Information then +Add Event then scroll down to Military Service there you can enter a Descripton of Military Service, like PFC US Army Vietnam 9th Infantry Division Vietnam etc.
