I need to edit an error I have made....how do I edit an entry?

Look for the pencil icon near the entry you made, if it is a date/place on a person.
If you need more help, please share more details. For example, if you connected someone to the wrong spouse or parent, the change is easy, but the steps may be more involved.

@Wilhelm233, if this is in the collaborative Family Tree on FamilySearch, then you can edit it, using the pencil (edit) button, as Áine illustrates above.
If you really can't edit it, then either you're not on a profile's detail page, or you're not actually looking at the Family Tree. Is it an index entry? There are many thousands of those with the incorrect sex just in the Hungarian church register indexes. If it's not an editable index, then you can simply ignore that incorrect field. Because of the many errors in index entries, most people quickly figure out not to enter too many details in their searches. I don't think I've ever done a search using the "sex" field.
