I am reviewing Death Certificates and the field where the age of the peson is supposed to be shows the year instead. Should I substract the year they were born with the year they died?

Generally speaking, if the age is not listed for one reason or another, you do not calculate it and mark it blank. For more help on your project, check the Field Help (purple question mark) above the Age field.
