John Hovey 1644 - 1718 is listed twice, G29T-84G and 2Z34H-SRH, but it was not possible to merge them. Same problem for wife Dorcas Ivory, 1643 - 1711 G29R-DSL and LZ66-3FF, but I did not even try to merge her two entries.

The second ID you have for John has too many characters. The correct IDs are 2Z3H-SRH and G29T-84G; the second merge step had the "only in this order" message when I tested with 2Z3H-SRH as the "survivor". (I did not go through with the merge, because I don't know these people from Adam and haven't a clue whether the March or May death date is the correct one.)

However, before merging in yet another John Hovey, I suggest checking the "big" profile (the one with 45 sources) thoroughly, to make sure he doesn't have multiple-person disorder.

Thank you for taking the time to respond to my question. I apologize for posting the wrong ID for the second John; it is 2Z3H-SRH, not 2Z34H-SRH. Initially, I could not find the familiar "Merge by ID" box and was thwarted. Today, I found that box and was able to complete the merge for both John Hovey and Dorcas Ivory.
