Dark photos from Chernivtsi State Archive
Hello.
It is more of an issue rather than question. I hope it is right place to write about it. I couldn't find better subforum. I didn't use feedback tool on website as this is more of general problem.
Chernivtsi State Archive is uploading new photos of documents recently. I noticed that most of those are very dark, like they where taken with insufficient lighting conditions, or exposure time on camera was too short. On some you can see shadows on paper folds like the light was coming from one side only.
It's not a big deal when you watch it on screen and have good quality documents with enough contrast. Problem starts when someone would like to print it or original document is of poor quality. One such example would be old diffused ink. It can be hard to read on original document and when you add dark photo with low contrast and .jpg file compression on top of it, you start to lose details.
They have good setup in Archive as they showed it on their website, so maybe they don't use it properly.
Here are some examples, but you can just open anything new from Chernivtsi State Archive:
bottom left is in complete shadow https://www.familysearch.org/records/images/image-details?startDateAvailable=2023-07-10&page=1&place=167&rmsId=TH-7764-127938-474-1&imageIndex=1&singleView=true
shadows and all the folds very visible https://www.familysearch.org/records/images/image-details?startDateAvailable=2023-07-10&page=1&place=167&rmsId=TH-7763-127937-7082-64&imageIndex=2&singleView=true
dark photo of document with diffused ink, when you zoom in you start to see compression artifacts https://www.familysearch.org/records/images/image-details?startDateAvailable=2023-07-10&page=1&place=167&rmsId=TH-7761-127937-27648-26&imageIndex=1&singleView=true
this is digitization station as seen on Archive's website https://cv.archives.gov.ua/foto%5Fnews/winter2021/%D0%B7%D0%BE%D0%B1%D1%80%D0%B0%D0%B6%D0%B5%D0%BD%D0%BD%D1%8F%5Fviber%5F2022-08-31%5F14-22-47-261.jpg
I think that you can easily fix that with increase in exposure time, at least darkness and not shadows. Is it possible to forward this issue to someone who can contact onsite personnel? So that new images will have better quality?
Thank you.

The image links you have provided have a feedback tab on the bottom of the page. Leaving feedback through that tab is the quickest way to share your concerns.
